Creationism

Last week I met Rev. Paul Veit, the Dino Pastor. The Congregational Church in town sponsored a 90 minute lecture where Rev. Paul explained some of the interesting facts that fit better in a Creationist model than in the Evolutionist model. From his web site, check out what he says about the trilobite as an example.

One of the arguments for a world wide flood is the interpretation of the fossil record. Rev. Paul and others point out how the layers of fossils coincide with mobility: Bottom dwelling sea creatures, fish, and others, followed by larger creatures, land dwellers, and finally large land animals with very few birds and bats.  As flood waters rise, so the theory goes, creatures climb higher to avoid the waters. Tremendous amounts of silt and sand cover the bottom of the ocean and the slow creatures. Apparently there are fossil "trails" of trilobites climbing through several layers of silt before dying.

Rev. Paul presented quite a lot of information that isn't posted on the web site and I didn't take notes. I was also chasing around a two-year old so my attention wasn't exactly focused on the lecture. I did notice the 100 pound piece of fossilized dino dung. Why anyone would want such a thing is beyond me. But there it was.

I did not know there were fossil footprints just an hour or two south in Massachusetts. Perhaps next spring we'll get the homeschool group together for a field trip.
