What's New!
Way back when I was an aspiring artist I was heavily influenced by Phil Foglio. I first found Phil on the back of The Dragon Magazine, a publication all about gaming. Phil has recently released What's New with Phil and Dixie as a free Web-toon! How cool is that!?!
Phil and Dixie have shared space not only in my Mom's basement (in the form of a heap of old Dragon magazines) but in my headspace for many years. When my wife and I started teaching a teen class, one of the ongoing gags I used was based on Phil's "Sex and D&D" idea. Each week I'd say "We're going to study the Song of Solomon" but would somehow always get sidetracked onto some other topic. The shock value eventually wore off, of course. But I was still amused.
I know a lot of those old Dragon Magazines were tossed out along with a ton of AD&D books. But there are a few still kicking around down there and I'll have to dig around sometime. I remember seeing my old set of Fineous Fingers and Friends miniatures down there years ago. For all I know they are still sitting the drawer of an old dresser.
