Church services
Here's a question: Is there any special reason to have Sunday School, followed by the morning service, with evening services at 6pm Sunday night?
Our church uses the town buildings - specifically the elementary school. We've been here all summer since they demolished the old middle school where we had been meeting. We've been planning to move in to the new middle school but there's one little problem.
The town changed the facility usage rules. Now the middle school isn't available until 11:30 am. To make things more interesting, the elementary school won't be available after 4pm.
So, we could use one building in the morning and the other in the evening which seems kind of confusing and makes finding our services like hitting a moving target.
We're currently looking at different options that include moving service times so that we could use only one building, making us a little more stable.
It seems kind of weird to think about church services that do not conform to what has become the traditional format, but there's really no mandate in the Bible that says "morning services shall be from 10am to 11am", nor Sunday School type classes actually held on Sunday morning. One thought is to rent some rooms on Wednesday night and have "Sunday School" at that time.
If you wondering why we don't have our own building, it's because the church is only 5 years old and we're still working on paying our pastor a full time salary. One thing at a time. Plus, the rent is only $2.50 per hour - that's two dollars and fifty cents - and there's no way we could beat that price.
So does anyone else go to a church where the services are not in the traditional time slots?
