This week in Legos
We had 7 boys over last night at our Lego Club, which was good because we finally received the Robotics Engineering course CD we ordered nearly a month ago. It was worth the wait, however, as it provides some really good information and structure to our learning.
One other boy brought his NXT so we could split into two groups, building a simple robot and begin to learn how to program. We found out quickly that the kit used in the demonstrations is slightly different than the kits we own because we can't build the same robot as on the CD. We made due this week with a simple designed included in our kits but I'm on a mission to find an "upgrade" so we can use the exact same thing as in the Course.
One good thing about my computer being dead is that I was able to put that "extra" monitor to good use. Just about every video card purchased in the last few years has the ability to provide dual monitors. So I brought the working PC down to the dungeon, hooked up both monitors, and ta-da! Kids could sit on either side of the table and watch the same video!
This Saturday we plan to drive up to Concord to watch a real competition and see what it's all about.
