It's the crud

It's official:  I've caught the crud.

It's been going around for some time and I've done my best to avoid it but on Tuesday I officially came down with a case of the crud.

I can't complain,  really. It's been about seven years since I was really sick. I've had a cough and sore throat, or a case of the sniffles here and there but nothing in all that time that kept me down like this has.  I slept nearly all day yesterday.

We've all had it. Little Guy has been coughing longer than anyone but he's running around now so I think he's about done with it. Still sounds like a barking seal, though.

Those that weren't sick went snowshoeing yesterday. We has about 40 kids over in our woods and beyond. I had previously made a small bridge out of scrap 2x4s and plywood to span a small creek so the kids could go to the beaver pond out there. Then, several stayed through the afternoon and played in the snow.

This is a good year for snow. We are only about 12 inches away from the all time record and already over twice the average snowfall. While I enjoy snow I say enough is enough!  Melissa says "let's go for the record" as if we have anything to do with it. But I get what she means. That's only 2 or 3 more storms and considering how they've gone on this year it wouldn't be surprising to get that by the end of March.

Last year I had built a little shed for our tractor out of scrap 2x4s and plywood (the previous owners of this house left me a lot of scrap lumber and plywood), thinking we would build a garage last summer. Well, we didn't build the garage (maybe this year) so my little shed had to go another season. It was not designed to last two years and certainly not designed to stand up to 100 inches of snow. The front has caved in, so now I have to lean over to one side to get in our out since there's only about 6 inches of clearance between the tractor and the top of the shed. Poor thing.  Although it looks like many old New England barns - caved in, leaning to the left (they always lean left), and rotting. If it would last just one more month...
